Affinity with rural industries:
My affinity for rural industries is deeply rooted in my personal connections with friends and family involved in farming and primary industries. This background has shaped my understanding and appreciation of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by rural communities. Recently, I have had the privilege of providing legal and governance support to livestock stud owners and exporters of livestock, which has furthered my understanding to this sector.
I am a lawyer and mediator with more than 20 years’ experience in tort and common law including, advising people who have suffered from the loss of social infrastructure, loss of their natural and built environment and who are under economic stress. I have an easy style which is empathetic but strong. My experience as a mediator is that all the parties feel heard and seen in the mediation process.
My career has also included significant experience in resolving family conflicts, including cases involving abuse. As a lawyer I have worked to represent vulnerable individuals and advise on complex family disputes. This work has contributed to my skills in conflict resolution.
I am a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
